This post is a little late in coming, but I guess as they say it’s better late than never. On the 31st Megan turned the big two. She is quickly transitioning from a baby to a little girl, almost skipping the toddler phase. Here are some pictures to see how she had grown, and a little bit more about her. First picture with her. She was 10 lbs 4 oz! A few days old One year old! My big two year old! All About Megan Favorite foods : I love to eat! However, I prefer fruit, especially strawberries and bananas, over any type of vegetable. In fact, the only “vegetable” I will eat of my own accord is corn on the cob. I really love to eat cereal with milk. I’m a master of the spoon. Sometimes I spill, though, and I have to say, “uh oh, momma, uh oh, momma, pill.” I also love to eat toothpaste. For some reason, mommy’s not so happy about that one. Favorite words : Bike, ball, woof woof, neigh, momma, dada, papa, num nums (I said I like to eat), uh oh, and my newest one, People. So this sweet face: I'm pretty sure I traumatized her with our little potty training attempt. All weekend any time we went into a bathroom for a diaper change, she started sobbing, pointing to the potty, and saying "no no no." I have decided we will wait until September to try again. I bought the "Potty Training in Three Days" book and I like the positive approach it takes. I will attempt that in September when N is in school. She'll only be just past two, so I am hoping that it will still be early enough that she's not set in her ways of pottying in her diaper. I really thought she was ready. I wonder, she can tell me when she goes, but she didn't seem to be able to hold it. Even when I would whisk her to the potty when she started to go, she would just let it all out on the way. Is it possible she can't yet utilize the "hold it" muscles? Regardless, we have a busy, busy summer, and I think the fall will be perfect. I'm just sad...

Megan had a hearing test yesterday. She passed. I’ve been concerned with her hearing because of her many ear infections as a baby and her poor speech. Natalie was a slow talker. I had her evaluated by the early intervention program at Miss M’s age and she would have qualified had she not been a preemie. Now, she talks like she’s sixteen. Miss M qualifies for speech therapy because she wasn’t a preemie. I am having a hard time figuring out what to do. Part of my heart tells me she’s fine and just a slow bloomer like N. But part of me has some very real concerns. There are certain sounds that she just doesn’t make, and she’s made up words for some words. Instead of saying wa-wa for water, she says “ung.” That doesn’t sound like water, nor use any of the sounds in the word water. There are other words, but that’s the most obvious. Her teachers at Mom’s Day Out have expressed concern. She is picking up a lot of new words this month and starting to put together even three-word sentences, bu...

Natalie continues to crack us up with the sweet and funny things she says. Here are a few recent ones: Natalie: "Mommy, I'm going to make up my own verse. Micah 40:5. The Lord God made, holy and wise, some people were sinners, and they couldn't go to heaven." She has since added this part "Until they were not sinners and asked Jesus to be their Savior" ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- N: "Today is Mofvers Day" (Hands me a bunch of lilacs she picked at grandma's) Me: Well, it's not really Mother's Day, but we can celebrate it if you want. What is Mother's Day? N: It's a day we give our mofvers things. Me: Why? N: To say "thank you" for loving us and taking care of us. I love you Mommy! Since my 19-month-old is just starting to get into books (She's very much a go-er, not a reader), I thought I would post two of her favorites for a change. Honestly, I don't like these books as much as others, but reading with your kids is not about what you like but what they like and are attracted to. I prefer books with stories, and these have none, but we read them all of the time. They are both Priddy books. Megan received them from a good friend for her birthday when she turned one. The first is Big Board Books Colors, ABC, Numbers (Bright Baby) This book has a theme on each page. The first is ABCs, then there is everyday objects, opposites, things we do each day, places we go, counting, shapes and colors. Like all Priddy books, these have simple photographs set in brigthly colored solid backgrounds, with each image in its own square on the page. She is a slow talker (Natalie was too) and I think she likes this book particularly because a few of the words she does say ar...
